 Frank Morrone is an award winning re-recording mixer who has worked extensively in both film and television. He has received seven Primetime Emmy nominations with two wins as well as multiple CAS, Golden Reel and Gemini nominations.  His award winning work includes Best Sound Mixing Emmys for the ABC hit LOST and mini-series The Kennedys as well as a Best Sound Satellite award for Tim Burton's Sleepy Hollow.

His television projects include LOST, neXt, Magnum P.I., The Family, Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders, The Strain, The Book of Negroes, The Kennedys, Boss, The L Word, and Sex and the City. He has worked with JJ Abrams, Carlton Cuse, Guillermo del Toro, Mark Gordon, Shawn Ryan, Barry Levinson, Tom Fontana, Barry Jossen, Jon Cassar, Sydney Lumet, Jim Henson, Christian Charles and Gus Van Sant.

His film work includes collaborations with directors Ron Howard, Tim Burton, Taylor Hackford, John Singleton, Joel Surnow, Janusz Kaminski, and Lasse Hallstrom on projects including Ransom, Sleepy Hollow, Shaft, Lost Souls, The Cider House Rules and the Oscar-winning documentary When We Were Kings. He also mixed the Jonas Brothers’ Camp Rock, and received a platinum album for the soundtrack.

Frank is Governor for the Sound Branch of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences and serves on the Board of Directors for the Motion Picture Editors Guild.  He is a Past President of Motion Picture Sound Editors (MPSE) and has been an MPSE Board Member for over ten years.   Additionally, Frank is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the Recording Academy and has served on the Board of Directors for the Cinema Audio Society.  

Frank is a musician and his interest in recording was sparked when he purchased a Teac 4-track to record his band.  One of his recordings led to an opportunity to work in a studio.  He began his career mixing music for film scores as well as jazz, rock and country albums. 


From there, he transitioned to film and television post production editing music and dialogue and finally onto re-recording.  In 1995, he accepted a position at Todd AO New York, where he also lectured for NYU film school. He moved to Los Angeles in 2004 to work with JJ Abrams on LOST and has since mixed projects for Technicolor, Sony and Disney as well as freelance projects for several other studios.

Frank has collaborated on product development with Avid, Digidesign, McDSP, M-Audio and Blue Microphones and has conducted master classes on mixing and guest lectures at well-known colleges worldwide including USC, Los Angeles Film School, NYU, AFI, Full Sail, SCAD and Edinburgh Napier.  

He is a member of the Foreign Language Film Committee for The Academy and has also served on many Blue Ribbon judging panels for various international festivals including Vaughan Film Festival, Rome 48 Hour Film Project and Jackson Hole Wildlife Festival.  He has  given the Graduation Keynote speech at Musicians Institute.


His music projects include Amin Bhatia’s 5.1 mix Interstellar Suite, Sunny Days Again: The Best of Lighthouse remix and A Christmas Story soundtrack.
